LACA translates speech and reads what a camera is pointed at. Both of those need something personal — your voice, and a view of what is in front of you — so this page is specific about what happens to them rather than general about our commitment to privacy.

The short version. LACA has no accounts by default, asks for no name, email or phone number, and keeps settings on your device. When you use Live conversation or Discover, microphone audio and (for Discover) camera frames are sent to Google Gemini (Google LLC) only to produce the translation or answer on screen. That sharing happens only after you allow it in the app. One optional thing may also leave your device: the feedback survey.

Third-party AI — Google Gemini

LACA uses Google’s Gemini models to process speech and (on Discover) images so it can translate and answer in real time.

What stays on your device

These are kept in your device's local storage and are not transmitted to us:

Deleting the app deletes all of it. There is no copy of it on our side to delete separately.

Your voice

The microphone is used only while you are actively asking for a translation — when you hold or tap the microphone control. It is not open at other times, and the app does not listen in the background.

Audio captured this way is sent to Google Gemini (Google LLC) for one purpose: producing the translation shown to you in that moment. It is not stored by LACA after the translation is produced, not attached to your identity by us, and not used by LACA to train speech or language models. That transfer only happens after you allow AI processing in the app (see “Third-party AI” above).

Your camera

The camera runs only while you have turned it on, on the screen that uses it, and you can turn it off at any time. Frames (and your spoken question on Discover) are sent to Google Gemini to produce the answer on screen, under the same permission and limits as audio above: not stored by LACA after the answer, not linked to you by us, not used by LACA for training. LACA does not read your photo library and never asks for access to it.

The feedback survey

Occasionally LACA asks how it is going. Answering is entirely optional and declining changes nothing about the app. If you do answer, this is the whole of what is sent:

SentWhy
Your rating, and your comment if you wrote oneThe answer itself
What you would pay, if you answered thatThe answer itself
The random identifier described aboveTo tell repeat answers apart
Interface language, translation languages, device regionTo know which answers come from which kind of use
Your plan tier, app version, platformTo know which build an answer is about
The time you answeredTo read answers in order

Your comment is free text. Please do not put anything into it that you would not want us to read, because we do read them. Nothing else from the app is attached to it — no translations, no audio, no images, no contact details.

Survey answers are stored on Supabase, a hosted database provider acting on our instructions, and are used to decide what to build next. They are not sold, not shared with advertisers, and not used to build a profile of you.

Purchases

Plans are bought through the App Store or Google Play. Those stores handle the payment and tell us only that a purchase succeeded and which plan it was. We never see your card number, billing address, or store account details.

Signing in

Signing in is optional; the app works fully without it, and a purchase never requires it. If you do sign in with Apple, Google or Facebook, we receive from that provider only the account identifier and, where you allow it, an email address. That is used for one thing: recognising you so your plan follows you to another device. We do not post anything, read your contacts, or import anything else from the provider.

Sign in with Apple offers to hide your email address. If you use that, we receive only Apple's relay address and never your real one.

What LACA does not do

How long things are kept

Voice and camera data are not kept by LACA beyond producing the answer in front of you; they are processed by Google Gemini for that turn under the terms and retention of that service. Survey answers are kept for as long as they remain useful for product decisions and are reviewed at least once a year; anything older than 24 months is deleted. Everything else lives on your device until you delete the app.

Your rights, and how to use them

Wherever you live, and whether or not local law requires it, you can ask us to delete what we hold about you or to tell you what that is. Email us and we will. We aim to answer within 30 days, and it never costs you anything.

What that means in practice. There is no account here, no name, no email address and no device identity. A survey answer carries only the random string described above, which the app does not display and which we cannot connect to a person. So tell us roughly when you answered and which languages you were using, and we will find what matches and delete it. If there is no way to narrow it down we will say so plainly, rather than guess and delete somebody else's answer.

Deleting the app deletes the identifier along with everything else held on your device, and nothing further is sent after that.

If you are in the EEA or the UK: our lawful basis is legitimate interest for running and improving the app, and consent for the survey, which you give by choosing to send it. If you are in California: we do not sell or share personal information, and exercising any right here will never cost you anything or degrade the app.

Children

LACA is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect anything from them. If you believe a child has sent us a survey answer, email us and we will delete it.

Changes

If this policy changes in a way that affects what we collect or what we do with it, the date at the top changes and the change is described here. We will not apply a materially different use to data already collected without asking first.
